Professional Staff

At the West Newton Hearing Center, we are all Certified Clinical Audiologists, licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We are members of the Academy of Dispensing Audiologists and the American Academy of Audiology. We have worked together for years, care deeply about helping our clients hear their best, and use our expertise to find and fit our clients with just the right digital hearing device.

Deborah M. Guthermann, Au.D.
Doctor of Audiology

Growing up, Debbie saw her grandmother Sarah face each day with a severe hearing loss that she had developed as a child.  Debbie admired the grace and the strength with which her grandmother met her communicative challenges, and she saw firsthand the limitations of the hearing device technologies of the day.  Determined to help others confronting the same situation, Debbie studied speech pathology and audiology at New York University.  After earning her bachelors of science and graduating Summa Cum Laude, she completed her masters in audiology at Northwestern University.  Debbie's personal commitment to always stay on top of her ever changing field ultimately led her to receive a doctor of audiology degree in 2002. It is in tribute to her grandmother that Debbie spends each day providing the best technical and personal hearing solution for each of her patients.

AuD, Arizona School of Health Sciences; Northwestern University; M.A.; Summa Cum Laude and B.A., New York University.

Rhonda Natanblut Ruby, M.S.
Audiologist

Rhonda learns all she can about her patients so they can hear their best in all types of hearing environments. Over the years she helped a computer teacher who couldn't hear his students over the constant hum of 20 computers in his classroom; she got rid of the annoying "ping" of an avid golfer's club hitting the ball when he teed; and she adjusted hearing devices for a newly married surgeon whose wife (and her interior decorator) insisted on placing the TV 25 feet from the couch.

Recently, Rhonda helped a trial attorney who couldn't hear sidebar conversations with the Judge in the courtroom, and she assisted a nurse who was having problems clearly hearing the surgeon (with a mask over his mouth) in the operating room. As co-owner of the West Newton Hearing Center, Rhonda loves the flexibility that being in private practice gives her to ensure her patients receive the time so she can adjust their hearing devices to their own unique circumstances. You'll love her enthusiasm, her warmth, and her "can-do" attitude.

Ask Rhonda what her most amazing moment was as an audiologist and she'll tell you about the time four years ago that she fit her mom with digital hearing devices. When she asked her mom how she liked the new sound, her mom responded, "Well now you're enunciating!"

M.A., Syracuse University; Phi Beta Kappa and B.A. University of Colorado.

Michelle M. Blanchard, Au.D.
Doctor of Audiology

An audiologist for 14 years, Michelle treats all her patients as if they were members of her own family. She knows how difficult it can be for people to recognize that they have a hearing loss (rather than that people around them are talking too softly). That's why Michelle spends the time to help patients understand their hearing loss and how it affects them in the "real world."  She also knows that choosing the right hearing device is very personal, and she makes it easy for them to work together to find the best solution.

AuD. at Arizona School of Health Science; M.A., University of Massachusetts; B.A., Bridgewater State College.
